The TV is black, or shows a code
- Is the TV on, and on the right input? A screen's page says when it Last checked in. If that's a while ago, the TV is off, asleep, or offline.
- It goes dark after a while. The TV's own power saving or screensaver turned it off. Change the settings in Keep it on all day.
- It shows a code. The TV isn't connected to a screen yet, or was disconnected. Type the code on the screen's page; see Connect a TV.
- "That screen is connected to a different TV." Open the screen and press Disconnect TV, then connect this one.
- Black, with nothing at all. A screen with no board chosen stays black: choose one on the screen's page. So does a TV just connected, until its board arrives, usually within a minute. And if the shul's trial or subscription ended more than three days ago, its screens are turned off. Subscribing turns them back on; see Prices and billing.
The TV leaves the board, or shows other apps
- Someone pressed Home on the remote. The TV goes to its home screen. Open the browser or app that shows the board again; on a Google TV with Fully Kiosk Browser, open Fully Kiosk Browser from Apps. Keeping the remote put away stops most of it.
- After a power cut it comes back on its home screen. Set up Fully Kiosk Browser with Launch on Boot, so the board opens by itself; see The best way so far: Google TV and Fully Kiosk Browser.
- Back takes it off the board. In Fully Kiosk Browser, turn off Enable Back Button under Web Browsing Settings.
A change isn't on the TV
- A board. The status line says "Changes not on screens yet": press Update screens.
- Notices, minyanim, events, photos. These reach the screens on their own, within a minute.
- Which screen? The screen's page says which board it shows. A screen with several boards may be showing another one right now; see Screens.
- Still nothing? The TV picks changes up when it's online. Check it's connected, then wait a minute.
"No zmanim for this date"
The editor says this on a Zmanim item, and the TV leaves the item empty under its header. None of the times ticked in the item fall on that date, like a Zmanim item showing only candle lighting on a weekday. Tick more under Times to show. A day Chabad.org hasn't published yet isn't the reason: Hebcal's times stand in until it does (see Zmanim).
If the item asks for the shul's address, set it under Settings: a US shul needs its ZIP code; a shul elsewhere needs a city chosen from the list.
A photo or flyer isn't showing
- A collage on The newest photo set shows only the newest set: check which set that is.
- A photo with an end date stops showing after it.
- A flyer shows only until its event is over, and only on boards with a Flyers item.
The board looks different on the TV
The board is drawn to fit the screen. If a TV's picture is cut off at the edges, turn off the TV's own zoom or overscan (often called "Just scan", "Screen fit" or "Full pixel") in its picture settings.
Still stuck?
Press Get help, at the foot of the menu on the left (in the Menu on a phone), or in the editor's bar above the board. Say what you were trying to do and what happened, and add a screenshot or a photo of the TV if you can. Your shul, your email and the page you were on go with it.
