Make an account and your shul
Press Start a free trial on the homepage, or go to Sign up. Use an email address and a password (or Continue with Google, where the sign-up page offers it). Confirm your email from the message that arrives, then Add your shul: its name and its address.
The address is how Shulboard knows the shul's zmanim and its time zone. Type it and choose the match; for a shul outside the US, choose the nearest city from the list that appears. You can change it later under Settings.
The free trial lasts 14 days, starting when you connect your first TV, and needs no card. See Prices and billing.
The four steps
The overview page lists what's left to do, and ticks each step off as it's done.
- Make a board. Go to Boards, press New board, choose Shul board, a template and a look, then Make the board. Zmanim, the Hebrew date and the clock are on it straight away. See Boards.
- Add a screen. Go to Screens and press Add screen. Give it a name people use, like "Main lobby".
- Connect the TV. On the TV, open shulboard.app/tv in its web browser. It shows a code; type that code on the screen's page in Shulboard. See Connect a TV.
- Show the board on it. On the screen's page, choose the board. The TV switches in a few seconds.
What to add next
- The shul's minyanim, under Davening times.
- A notice or two, under Notices.
- Photos from the last simcha, under Photos and albums.
- Coming events with their flyers, under Events and flyers.
- Other people from the shul, under Members and roles.
Is it on the TV?
Wherever you change a board, one line at the top says whether the change is on the screens, and which ones: "On 1 screen: Main lobby", or "Changes not on screens yet". A change to a board reaches the screens when you press Update screens (Put on screens the first time). Notices, minyanim, events and photos are shared by every board that shows them, and reach the screens on their own, usually within a few minutes.
